Prep Time: Cook time: Ingredients: 1 kgfish cleaned and cut into pieces,1 1/2lump of tamarind,1/2 cuphot water,1 largeonion sliced,1 largetomato sliced,7-8red chilies,2 tbspgarlic paste,1 tbspginger paste,1 1/2grated fresh coconut,2 tbspcoriander powder,2 tbspcumin powder,1/2 tspturmeric powder,1/2 tspred chili powder,2green chilies slit,2 tbsvegetable/ canola/ sunflower cooking oil,Hot waterfor gravy (approximately 2 cups),Saltto taste, Instructions: Soak the tamarind in 1/2 a cup of hot water for 10 minutes and mash the tamarind with your fingers to mix it well into the water. Strain through a sieve to extract all the pulp. Keep pulp aside. Put onion, tomato, coconut, ginger, garlic, dry red chilies, all the spices and the tamarind puree into a food processor and grind well to make a smooth paste. Heat a deep pan on a medium flame, add the oil and heat. Add the green chilies, paste you just ground to the oil and fry for 5 minutes. Add the 2 cups of water (add more water if you would like more gravy) and boil it. Cook for 10 min on a low flame and add salt to taste. Gently add the pieces of fish to the gravy and cook for 10 minutes.( Do not cover the pan at any time during the cooking ). Turn off the fire and serve it with plain boiled rice. Goan Fish Curry Recipe

This classic Goan Fish Curry is a well spiced, yet mild dish in which fish is either cooked whole or in pieces. This delicious fish curry is served with hot rice. Let’s follow this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 kgfish cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 1 1/2lump of tamarind
  • 1/2 cuphot water
  • 1 largeonion sliced
  • 1 largetomato sliced
  • 7-8red chilies

  • 1 tbspginger paste
