Heat oil+ghee in a vessel, add bay leaf, clove, cardamom, star anise and cinnamon and saute for few secs. Add sliced onions and saute for 4-5 min and add chopped tomatoes and saute for 4 min. Add the ground paste and fry for 8-10 min on a low flame. Add salt and mix it well and add rice and mix it well and saute for a min Add 2 3/4 cups of water and bring to a boil and reduce flame, place lid and cook till rice is done. Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cupsraw rice
  • 10-12curry leaves
  • 1clove
  • 1cardamom
  • 1cinnamon stick
  • 1star anise
  • 1large onion, finely sliced
  • 3ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbspfinely chopped coriander leaves
  • saltto taste
  • 1 tbspoil + 1/2 tbsp ghee

Make a paste:

  • 1/2 tbspcoriander seeds, dry roast
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds, dry roast
  • 1 tspsaunf, dry roast
