Heat 2 cups of water in a pan, add figs and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes. Drain and blend in a mixer to a smooth puree and keep it aside. Heat ghee in a deep heavy-bottomed pan, add powdered almonds and saute over a medium flame for about 2 minutes. Add the pureed figs, milk powder, sugar and ½ cup of water and cook for 5 minutes or till the sugar completely dissolved and stir continuously. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Garnish with almonds and serve hot. Figs/ Anjeer is a good source of vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, sodium, potassium, and chlorine. Anjeer Halwa is a really striking dessert made of pureed figs(Anjeer) and milk powder cooked with ghee and sugar. Milk powder and sugar gives very luxuriant mouth feel and flavor to this halwa. Try this tasty and healthy recipe this Shivaratri.

Ingredients

  • 15 to 20almonds (badam), blanched and peeled
  • 24 (200 grams)dried figs (Anjeer)
  • 5 tbspghee
