(rinse the poha with water if it is not clean) Mash them nicely using back of a spoon and add 1.5 cups of rice rava, 1 cup curd and water as required. Mix it well and allow to rest for 10 - 15 min as the rice rava (idli rava) has to absorb all the water. Add water to get idli batter like consistency and finally add some salt to taste. Just before steaming add a pinch of baking soda and mix it well till it turns frothy. Brush the plates with oil and pour the batter immediately into the idli plate and steam it for 8-10 min on medium flame. Switch off the flame and allow it to rest for 5 min then un-mold the idlis. Soft Poha (Flattened Rice) Idli Recipe

Soft Poha( flattened Rice) Idli is made with flattened rice, idli rava, and curd. The poha idli is soft, tasty, and also a healthy version of idlis. It is perfect for breakfast or lunch boxes. This is an easy recipe to try in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 cupflattened rice / poha / avalakki (thin / thick variety)
  • 1½ cuprice rawa / idli rava
  • 2 cupsour curd / buttermilk
  • pinchof baking soda / eno fruit salt
  • wateras required
  • saltto taste
  • oilto grease idli molds

Directions

  • Soak 1 cup of poha in curd for 10 - 15 min or till they turn soft. (rinse the poha with water if it is not clean)
  • Mash them nicely using back of a spoon and add 1.5 cups of rice rava, 1 cup curd and water as required.
  • Mix it well and allow to rest for 10 - 15 min as the rice rava (idli rava) has to absorb all the water.
