Stir-fry for 2 minutes until moisture evaporates and add the grated coconut and fry for a minute. Transfer to the serving bowl and serve it hot. Notes: You can add onion after tempering and also you can replace red chilies with green chilies. You can grind green chili and coconut and add it at last instead of tempering. Add salt while cooking and this prevents over cooking of chana and sometimes if the soaking hour is less, then adding salt will prevent chana from cooking properly and in such cases, add salt after cooking the chana. Ram Navami is round the corner and its time for sundal. Chana Sundal recipe is easy to make and tasty. It can be eaten as a light meal. Sundal is a South Indian savory snack prepared with chana (chickpea). 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupChana/ Kondakadalai
  • 3 tbspCoconut, scraped
  • 3/4 tspSalt

To temper

  • 1 tspOil
  • 3/4 tspMustard
  • 1 tspUrad dal
  • 2Red chili
  • 1 pinchAsafoetida
  • 1 sprigCurry leaves

Directions

  • Soak the chana overnight and pressure cook it with salt and water and cook it for 30 min.
  • Heat kadhai with oil and add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chili, asafoetida, and curry leaves and fry it nicely.
