Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep it aside. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida and fry on a medium flame for 30 seconds. Add onions, curry leaves, and garlic paste and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, chili powder, coriander powder, ginger-green chili paste, turmeric powder and salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally. Add the cooked masoor dal, 1 cup of water and coriander leaves, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 4 minutes and stir occasionally and once done, switch off the flame. Ingredients

  • 3/4 cupmasoor dal (split red lentil), washed and drained
  • saltto taste
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)

  • 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
