Prep Time: 30min Cook time: 30min Ingredients: 3/4 cupurad (whole black lentil),1 cupchopped onions,1 tspchopped ginger (adrak),saltto taste,1/2 cupfresh cream,1 tbspoil,1 tbspghee,1 tspginger (adrak) paste,1 tspgarlic (lehsun) paste,1 tspfinely chopped green chilies,1/2 cupchopped tomatoes,1/2 tspchili powder,1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi),1/2 tspdried mango powder (amchur),1/2 tspcoriander (dhania) powder,1/2 tspcumin seeds (jeera) powder,1/2 tspPunjabi garam masala( easily available at the market),1 tbspcoriander (dhania) for the garnish, Instructions: In a bowl soak the whole urad in enough water and soak it for overnight and drain the water from the dal. In a pressure cooker add 1/2 cup of onions, ginger, salt and 2½ cups of water and the soak dal and pressure cook for 15 to 20 minutes on medium flame or till the urad is soft. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and mash the dal, add the cream and cook on low flame for 10 minutes and keep it aside. For the tempering Heat the oil and ghee in a small pan, add the 1/2 cup of onions, ginger paste, garlic paste, and green chilies and fry till the onions turn translucent. Add the tomatoes and fry for 3-4 minutes or till the mixture leaves oil. Add the chili powder, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, Punjabi garam masala and salt and fry for 2-3 minutes. Authentic Dal Amritsari Recipe

Dal Amritsari is an authentic delicacy dish of Punjabi cuisine. It is an easy, quick, and comforting dal recipe. This dal is generally served in roadside Dhaba. This dal is perfect for lunch or dinner and can be served with any Indian bread.

Ingredients
