Prep Time: Cook time: Ingredients: 2 cupsquick cooking rolled oats,3 tspoil,1 tspturmeric powder (haldi),1 tspmustard seeds ( rai / sarson),1 tspurad dal (split black lentils),5 to 6curry leaves (kadi patta),1whole dry Kashmiri red chili, broken into pieces,2green chilies,1/2 cupfinely chopped onions,1/4 cupfinely chopped carrot,1/4 cupgreen peas,1 tspsugar,saltto taste, For The Garnish 2 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania), Instructions: Heat 1 tsp of oil in a non-stick pan, add the oats and ½ tsp of turmeric powder and fry on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till it turns light brown in color, stir occasionally and keep it aside. Heat the 2 tsp of oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds and when the seeds crackle, add the urad dal, curry leaves, red chilies and green chilies and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute. Add the onions and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute or till the onions turn translucent. Add the carrots and green peas and fry on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add the oats mixture, sugar, salt and ½ tsp of turmeric powder, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute and stir continuously. Add 1½ cups of hot water, cover it with a lid and cook on a low flame for 5 to 7 minutes and stir occasionally. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander and serve it hot. Ingredients

  • 2 cupsquick cooking rolled oats
  • 3 tspoil
  • 1 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 tspmustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
  • 1 tspurad dal (split black lentils)
  • 5 to 6curry leaves (kadi patta)
  • 1whole dry Kashmiri red chili, broken into pieces
  • 2green chilies
