Prep Time: 15min Cook time: 25min Ingredients: 1 cuprice (chawal),1/4 cupurad dal (split black lentils),2 tbspoil,1 tspcumin seeds (jeera),1 tbspmustard seeds ( rai / sarson),8 to 10curry leaves (kadi patta),1/4 tspasafoetida (hing),1 tspfinely chopped green chilies,2 tbspfinely chopped onions,1/4 cupcoarsely crushed peanuts,salt taste,3 3/4oil for greasing and cooking, Instructions: For Directions In a bowl, add the raw rice and urad dal and enough water and keep it aside to soak for 2 hours and drain the water from it keep it aside. Then transfer this rice mixture in a blender and also ½ cup of water and blend till smooth. Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl and cover with a lid and keep it aside to ferment in a warm place for 8 hours. After the batter is fermented, heat the oil in a small non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and green chilies and fry on a medium flame for few seconds. Add the onions and peanuts and fry on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Add this tempering to the batter and mix it well and also add salt and mix it nicely. Heat the appe mold on a medium flame and grease it by using ¼ tsp of oil. Pour 1 tbsp of the batter into each mold and cook it by using 1 tsp of oil till the lower surface becomes golden brown and then turn each appe upside down by using a fork so as to cook them from the other side as well. Serve it with sambar and green chutney. Ingredients

  • 1 cuprice (chawal)
