It is prefect for any occasion Prep Time: 20min Cook time: 20min Ingredients: 5 cupschopped Gongura leaves (ambada),2 cupssoaked and cooked rice (chawal),3 tbspoil,2 tspmustard seeds ( rai / sarson),1/4 tspfenugreek (methi) seeds,10 curry leaves(kadi patta),5 wholedry Kashmiri red chilies,1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi),saltto taste,1 tbspchana dal (split Bengal gram),1 tbspurad dal (split black lentils),1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera),1/4 tspasafoetida (hing),1 tspfinely chopped garlic (lehsun),4 whole drydry Kashmiri red chilies , broken into pieces,5 slitgreen chilies,1/4 cuproasted peanuts,10-12broken cashew nuts (kaju), Instructions: Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a deep non-stick pan , add 1 tsp of mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and fry on a medium flame for 30 seconds. Add the curry leaves, red chilies, turmeric powder, Gongura leaves and a little salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 7 to 8 minutes and stir occasionally and keep it aside to cool completely. Once cooled, blend this mixture to a smooth paste and keep it aside. Heat 2 tbsp oil in the deep non-stick pan, add the chana dal and urad dal and fry on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add 1 tsp of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, red chilies, green chilies, roasted peanuts, and cashew nuts and fry on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the prepared Gongura paste, rice and salt , mix it gently and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally. Switch off the flame and serve it hot with papad and curd. Ingredients

  • 5 cupschopped Gongura leaves (ambada)
  • 2 cupssoaked and cooked rice (chawal)
  • 3 tbspoil
  • 2 tspmustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
  • 1/4 tspfenugreek (methi) seeds
  • 10 curry leaves(kadi patta)
  • 5 wholedry Kashmiri red chilies
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • saltto taste
  • 1 tbspchana dal (split Bengal gram)
  • 1 tbspurad dal (split black lentils)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/4 tspasafoetida (hing)
  • 1 tspfinely chopped garlic (lehsun)
  • 4 whole drydry Kashmiri red chilies , broken into pieces
  • 5 slitgreen chilies
  • 1/4 cuproasted peanuts
  • 10-12broken cashew nuts (kaju)

Directions

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a deep non-stick pan , add 1 tsp of mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and fry on a medium flame for 30 seconds.
  • Add the curry leaves, red chilies, turmeric powder, Gongura leaves and a little salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 7 to 8 minutes and stir occasionally and keep it aside to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, blend this mixture to a smooth paste and keep it aside.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in the deep non-stick pan, add the chana dal and urad dal and fry on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  • Add 1 tsp of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, red chilies, green chilies, roasted peanuts, and cashew nuts and fry on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add the prepared Gongura paste, rice and salt , mix it gently and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
  • Switch off the flame and serve it hot with papad and curd.
