Prep Time: 15min Cook time: 20min Ingredients: For the vadas: 3 cups oil + 1 tablespoonOil,4-5Potatoes (medium sized),10Curry leaves,1 teaspoonMustard seed,1 teaspoonCumin seed (optional),A pinch ofasofoetida (hing),½ teaspoonTurmeric powder,½ cupCoriander leaves (chopped),2-3Green chilies (chopped finely),½ inchGinger chopped (optional),1 teaspoonChat masala,1 teaspoonCoriander seed powder,½ teaspoonGaram masala powder,Saltto taste, For the batter: 2 cupsSifted gram flour,1 cupWater,½ teaspoonTurmeric powder,1 teaspoonCooking soda,½ teaspoonRed chili powder (optional),Saltto taste, Other Ingredient: 8-10Pav (bread),1Onion, chopped (optional),3-4green chilies, Instructions: Peal and mash the boiled potatoes. Heat oil in a non stick pan Put curry leaves, mustard seed, cumin seed and asafetida. Now, add this mixture in mashed potatoes Now put, spice powder, coriander leaves, chilies, ginger and salt. Mix it well. Then, make medium sized balls and keep them aside Combine all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix well. Ensure that, batter is smooth and thick. Now put a non stick pan on flame and heat the oil. Now, dip the potato’s balls into batter and fry. Fry it till it gets brown. Then, Put them on a paper napkin to remove excess oil. Vada Pav is one among the famous Mumbai snacks. It is a world famous Maratha cuisine made with spiced potato mix and batter. You can also say it’s an “Indian styled burger”. Vada Pav has iconic status in the country. It is also famous for "poor man's food".

Ingredients

For the vadas:

  • 3 cups oil + 1 tablespoonOil
  • 4-5Potatoes (medium sized)
  • 10Curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoonMustard seed
  • 1 teaspoonCumin seed (optional)
  • A pinch ofasofoetida (hing)
  • ½ teaspoonTurmeric powder
  • ½ cupCoriander leaves (chopped)
  • 2-3Green chilies (chopped finely)
  • ½ inchGinger chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoonChat masala
  • 1 teaspoonCoriander seed powder
  • ½ teaspoonGaram masala powder
  • Saltto taste

Directions
