In a bowl add cooked dal, mashed potatoes, grated onions, carrots, peas, chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, ginger- garlic paste and coriander and mix it well. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and use a thick Seekh (metal skewer), press each portion of the dal mixture on it using your fingers to make a 100 mm. (4") long kebab. Brush each kebab very lightly with a little oil. Cook the kebabs on a grill or over a charcoal barbecue till they are evenly browned (approx. 3 to 4 minutes). Serve hot with green chutney. Veg Seekh Kebab is a quick snack recipe made with vegetables. It is a delicious snack that completely melts in the mouth. Kebab is an Mughali recipe which tastes best when served hot. It can be served as a starter in parties.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cupYellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
  • 1/4 cupBoiled and mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbspGrated onions
  • 2 tbspGrated carrot
  • 2 tbspBoiled green peas
  • 2 tspChili powder
  • 1/4 tspGaram masala
  • 1/2 tspTurmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/5 tspGinger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
  • 2 tspChaat masala
  • 2 tbspChopped coriander (dhania)
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tbspOil for brushing

Directions
