In a pressure cooker add the dals, 2 cups of water, salt, and turmeric powder, mix it well and pressure cook for 30 min and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep it aside. Heat ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai and add the cumin seeds and when the seeds crackle, add onions and ginger-garlic paste and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes and 2 tbsp of water, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add the garam masala, chili powder and coriander-cumin seeds powder, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add curd and coriander, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes and stir continuously. Add the cooked dals, mix it well and cook on a low flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally. Switch off the flame and serve it hot roti or parathas. Ingredients

  • 1 tbspyellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
  • 1 tbspmasoor dal (split red lentil)
  • 1 tbspurad dal (split black lentils)
  • 1 tbspchana dal (split bengal gram)
  • 1 tbsptoovar (arhar) dal
  • saltto taste
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
  • 2 tbspghee

Directions

  • In a bowl soak yellow moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal, chana dal, and toovar dal for 1 hour and then drain the water from the dals.
