In a pressure cooker add the dals, turmeric powder and 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 25 min. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep it aside. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai and add the cumin seeds and when the seeds crackle, add the green chilies, ginger and asafoetida and fry on a medium flame for 30 seconds. Add the cooked dals, chili powder, salt, lemon juice and ½ cup of water, mix it well and cook on a low flame for 4 to 5 minutes and stir occasionally and once done, switch off the flame.   • 1/2 cupgreen moong dal (split green gram)
