Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the cumin seeds, mix well and fry on a medium flame for a few second. Add the onions and fry on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and add the cooked masoor dal, spinach, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, blended garlic- ginger-green chili paste, tomatoes and salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and stir occasionally. Add ¼ cup of water and chili powder, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes and stir occasionally and switch off the flame. Serve it hot with rice. This dal is perfect with for lunch or dinner and tastes best with hot rice.

Ingredients

    • 1 cupMasoor dal (split red lentil)
    • 1 cupchopped spinach (palak)
    • 4 tspoil
    • 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
    • 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
    • 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
    • 2 tspdried mango powder (amchur)
    • 1/2 cupfinely chopped tomatoes
