When you add little bit of jaggery syrup to water, it should not dissolve in water. Then it is the right consistency for pongali Add mashed rice mixture to the jaggery juice and cook for a while Add cardamom powder to the rice Fry the cashew nuts in ghee along with raisins Add the fried cashews and raisins to the rice mixture at the end Serve it hot as naivedyam to the God. Sweet Pongal also known as Sakkari Pongali is a delicious recipe that is generally prepared for South Indian occasions. It generally tastes good with newly harvested rice. Prepare it at home and offer it to lord Ganesha on the occasion of vinayaka chaturthi.

Ingredients

  • ½ cupRaw rice
  • ¼ cupMoong dal
  • 1 cupJaggery
  • 2 tablespoonsCashew nuts
  • 2 teaspoonsRaisins
  • 4 Cardamom
  • 1 tablespoonGhee

Directions

  • Dry roast rice and dal for 2 minutes in separate pans
